PROGRAM 2019

This year’s festival will be taking place from the 6th-10th of November.

All the films have english dialogue, english subtitles or no dialogue, with the exception of the films in the program ‘Short films from Cinema’s Birth’, which have danish intertitles and for one film (Thank you Mom) in the New Danish Shorts program.

HORROR SHORTS

This year’s selection of international horror shorts show that the tradition of scares with substance is alive and well. These are films about very human subjects as told through the excessive and fantastical yet subtle and effective tools of the horror genre.

Copenhagen Short Film Festival will for the first time be hosting a pitch contest for young aspiring filmmakers. Please note that the event is in Danish.

Experience a real film matinee when we, in collaboration with the Danish Film Institute, screen short films from the media’s beginning years, with live piano music.

KOREAN SHORTS

Korean films have experienced increasing popularity in later years, but it is not only the korean feature length films that are worth a visit to the cinema, equally the Korean short films deserve some extra attention.

IN FRONT OF AND BEHIND THE BERLIN WALL

On the occasion of the 30 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, we will, in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Dänemark take a look back at the event, and screen some short films that each portray Berlin from either side of the wall.

BARBARA HAMMER RETROSPECTIVE

Barbara Hammer (1939-2019) was known as one of the pioneers of lesbian films, and as a tribute to the person and filmmaker, we will be screening a retrospective of her best films from the 70’s and 80’s.

SCI-FI SHORTS

The big ideas take center stage in this program for fans of speculative fiction and cinematic ingenuity. First contact with an alien civilisation is imminent, laws of time and space are violated, and Isaac Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics are enforced diligently.

The screenings are free, but you have to pay for the entrance fee to Kunsthal Charlottenborg
